Spurs come from behind to draw in thrilling encounter
Ronaldo hat-trick puts Spurs to the sword
Red Devils move up to fourth with victory
Tottenham Hotspur came from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Manchester United in a thrilling Premier League encounter at Old Trafford on Thursday. Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick for United, but Harry Kane and Son Heung-min responded for Spurs to earn a share of the spoils.
The result leaves United in fourth place in the table, one point ahead of fifth-place Arsenal. Tottenham remain in seventh, three points behind United.
Ronaldo opened the scoring for United in the 12th minute, finishing coolly from close range after being set up by Bruno Fernandes. The Portuguese forward doubled United's lead in the 38th minute, heading home from a corner. Ronaldo completed his hat-trick in the 81st minute, tapping in from close range after Jadon Sancho had crossed from the right.
However, Spurs refused to give up and pulled a goal back through Kane in the 83rd minute. The England captain headed home from close range after being set up by Son.
Spurs then completed their comeback in the 89th minute, when Son fired home from the edge of the area. The South Korean forward had been set up by Kulusevski.
The draw was a fair result in a match that ebbed and flowed from start to finish. United were the better team in the first half, but Spurs improved after the break and deserved a point.
Ronaldo's hat-trick was his first in the Premier League since December 2018. It also takes his tally of goals for United to 145, moving him clear of Wayne Rooney as the club's all-time top scorer.
