Israels Ex Premier Bennett Criticizes Netanyahus Warmongering

Israel's Ex-Premier Bennett Criticizes Netanyahu's Warmongering

Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has launched a scathing attack on Benjamin Netanyahu's handling of the recent conflict with the Palestinians.

Bennett, who was replaced by Netanyahu in December 2022, accused the current Prime Minister of "reckless and irresponsible" behavior that had led to an unnecessary escalation of violence.

In an interview with the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, Bennett said that Netanyahu had "failed to exhaust all diplomatic options" before ordering the military to launch airstrikes on Gaza.

He also criticized Netanyahu's decision to allow far-right ministers to join his government, saying that this had "emboldened" extremist elements within Israeli society.

"Netanyahu is playing with fire," Bennett warned. "His actions are putting the lives of innocent Israelis and Palestinians at risk."

Bennett's comments come amid growing international concern over the escalating violence in the region.

The United Nations has called for an immediate ceasefire, and the United States has urged both sides to "exercise restraint."

However, Netanyahu has so far resisted calls for a ceasefire, saying that Israel has a right to defend itself against Hamas rocket attacks.

The conflict has already claimed the lives of more than 200 people, including dozens of children.

Bennett's criticism of Netanyahu is a significant development, as it marks a break with the former Prime Minister's long-standing ally.

It remains to be seen whether Bennett's comments will have any impact on Netanyahu's behavior.

However, they are a clear indication that the current Israeli government is facing growing pressure to end the violence.
